All Girl Sail Jam - Mission Bay Yacht Club

  ission Bay Yacht Club and the local Women's Snipe Fleet hosted the first annual All Girl Sail Jam. This year's event had a fantastic turnout with 41 competitors from 3 class in FJ's/420's, Snipes, and Sabots with ages ranging from 11-70. What other event can boast a 4 generations of girl skippers? This was truly a unique experience. In addition to the individual competition was a
team-scoring component. Teams of 3 were selected from a representative from each class. This resulted in great camaraderie amongst unfamiliar faces. It really brought the generations together and showed that sailing is truly a lifelong
sport.
The weather was fantastic with light winds at 6-10 knots. Yet the conditions proved quite challenging with shifty conditions predominate all day. Once again our designated boat boys held some great races (5 in all). Thanks to all the volunteers for their efforts.
